SUTTON, MA – Connor Tronerud was just 15 years old when he tragically took his own life, leaving behind a grieving community.
“Connor suffered so much in silence,” explains his mother and grandmother, Teresa Tonerud, Vice President and Co-Founder of Together for Connor. “I never realized how much he was going through.”
Family and friends, determined to honor his memory, built a non profit dedicated to mental health and anti bullying awareness, fondly remembering Connor as a playful prankster with a warm smile and a heart to match.
“Connor LOVED April Fools,” says Teresa. “He actually made spaghetti and instead of red sauce he put hot sauce. He would oh, try so hard to come and trick me,”
Today, the mission continues to raise funds that support mental health and anti bullying initiatives and opportunities in their community and beyond.
“By offering financial assistance to children and their families to be able to afford their own mental health counseling and therapy sessions. Connor also loved camp, so we cover the cost of camp programs,” explains his brother Kyle, President and Co-Founder of Together for Connor. “Connor’s story is something that resonates with a lot of people.”
Their annual golf tournament is one way the organization continues to give back.
“Suicide is real. If we can help one child, that would be all worth it,” says Nana, Connor’s grandmother.
