About Emmalyn Reid's Blog

“There are a lot of good stories out there that no one is talking about.”

These are the words I kept finding myself saying over and over again, to friends and family members when they’d ask me what I was working on and I’d tell them about the latest charity event I was headed to.

As a News Director & Anchor at WMCT News in Marlborough, I began to notice amidst all of hard and sometimes tragic stories that landed in my lap, there were many rays of light in uplifting stories across communities in New England falling behind the well-known saying, “If it bleeds, it leads.” While I don’t disagree (my news instinct will ALWAYS take over at every call over the scanner thanks to my grandfather’s many years as a Lieutenant), I’ve found a calling in covering the happy stories in my spare time, here. The stories of countless people giving back in ways large and small all over our coastal, beautiful New England. From athletes and celebrities to small-town heroes just doing their part to bring a smile to the faces of those in need out of the pureness of their heart, I invite you to join me on my journey to spread the stories of those doing good all over New England. Follow along in my blog or on my YouTube Channel!

Outside of sharing these stories, when I come home from a long day I have a firm belief that one should feel just as good inside their home as the good they do outside of it. After several years of working directly with interior designers, architects and contractors prior to joining the media industry I have so much respect for the creativity and ability so many have to flawlessly create a home simply by highlighting the right features of a house. (Yes, there is a big difference between a house and a home, and it’s one you can feel from the moment you walk in.) As a wife, I find peace in creating a home for my family that we all can love. My hope is that by sharing the looks I love, it can inspire you to design the home and life that you love, too!
