Fashion Fur A Cause: local boutique supports dog rescue’s dreams of rebuilding

FISKDALE, MA – If there are two things I’m an absolute sucker for, it’s a good fashion show and rescue dogs. To have the opportunity to walk in a fashion show where funds go to benefit a shelter looking to rebuild was an immediate yes.

Threads Fashion Boutique is one of the best kept secrets in Fiskdale: a consignment shop boasting rare, unique finds and a selection that is consistently refreshed. Yet the best part of the business isn’t found sitting on the shelves – it is found in their actions to support members of the local community. When the owner heard of a tragedy in Paxton where an animal shelter undergoing renovation caught fire claiming the lives of several rescues, she knew she wanted to help – that’s where the idea for the Furry Friends Fundraiser fashion show began to benefit Sweetpea for Animals.

“We were renovating the property when we suffered a disastrous fire in November 2015. The office building survived but we now need to rebuild the main animal shelter building,” explains Richard Clark, Founder and retired Rutland Animal Control Officer. “We have renovated the small boarding kennels area in the main building but we cannot succeed without your ongoing help.”

By turning the Milyard Marketplace into a runway to benefit the rebuilding of Sweet Pea Animal Rescue, a no-kill non-profit animal shelter in Paxton, MA, she was able to do just that. The star models of the show were the adorable pups paired with a human companion dressed in one-of-a-kind finds from the boutique. Featuring live music, raffle prizes and giveaways, and a little help from their friends like Deborah at Juno’s Place- the pawsitively adorable fashion show helped fill the gap needed to provide critical funding.
