Harvesting Hope: DOVE Hosts Annual Fundraiser to Combat Domestic Violence

Quincy, MA – As leaves began to fall in Quincy, local non-profit DOVE had been working hard to piece together their largest fundraiser of the year: Harvesting Hope.

From live music to an engaging auctioneer, wine pull and even custom caricatures created live on site, the gala raised thousands to support the organization’s mission as a domestic violence shelter with a holistic healing approach that includes recovery, advocacy and prevention.

“The work DOVE does for their victims once they get a call, how they take care of them – and not only that, but how they educate them, help them after they get them out of that bad situation – it’s not just helping them in that moment right then, but the work they do after that to help them recover and really break through,” explains Elise Tenney.

Mick Hirsch, Executive Director at DOVE, walked through their extensive list of immediate crisis actions and evergreen services. “Any kind of abuse, whether it’s physical, emotional, social, spiritual, financial – we provide counseling across the age spectrum for children as well as adults,” says Hirsch. Children are often the unspoken victims from these situations.” From immediate shelter requests to legal assistance, food and immediate needs requests, DOVE steps in to be a place of respite while also getting out front of the next generation to break the cycle of harmful relationships. “On the prevention side, we’re out in the schools we’re providing education around healthy relationships.”
