BROCKTON, MA – After spending years as a single mother, founder of Victory for Families Veronica Thompson has pledged to be the change she wished to see in the world through offering light, compassion and resources for those navigating parenthood without a partner.
“I was a single mom and often times I struggled financially, just stressful times with my children, and I didn’t feel like I was supported,” explains Thompson. “I started victory for families to be able to support working class mom reach and live successful lives.”
On Friday, October 18th, the nonprofit organization will be hosting its inaugural gala at Venue 727 in Brockton to raise funds to assist with costs of childcare, housing and necessities while celebrating the hard work of single mothers. The event will feature catering by The Hut Island Vibes Jamaican Cuisine and drinks by the Rose Bar Experience, music, and more.
“It’s stressful because you’re not able to put your best self forward for your children if you are constantly worrying about just paying the light bill or just keeping things afloat in the house,” explains Thompson. “We want to be able to help be that transitionary period for them so they can feel well supported and remove some of those barriers so they can focus on their families.”
