MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MA – As the Kovacs family traveled back on a loop between California, Hawaii and Martha’s Vineyard with their baby boy Taylor, his mother and renowned local wedding planner Sandy couldn’t help but notice everywhere she went that something was missing.
“I really wanted to be able to have matching pj’s with my son – it’s really hard to find cute ones, I feel like boys pajamas always have trucks on them, and I just wanted something that represented a little bit more of our lifestyle.”
Already familiar with creating custom wedding pajamas as part of a brand she develops for her wedding clients, Sandy’s son Taylor quickly served as inspiration as she began to envision a own brand that could represent her own family. “I built the entire company around him. Taylor was born on the island – he is 2 years old right now he looks like a little surfer boy – so he’s my little island boy which is where the company came from, The Little Island Club.”
What started with two piece pj sets designed with Lauren King evolved organically to include onesies, dresses, and swim ranging from ages 6 months all the way to 5T with a goal to grow to include pieces from Nantucket and Cape Cod.
we really just wanted to intertwine our love from the east coast, our love from the west coast, and our little one is really just a mix of both of us – so we wanted to just bring both of our backgrounds and create one big clothing line based around our son”
