BOSTON, MA – Maybe you’re a big trivia buff. Maybe you just love a good night out exploring Boston’s historic charm. Maybe you love fun ways to give back that support local education. Regardless of reason, we’ve already given you three to step out to support Boston Partners In Education on Thursday, August 22nd.
The Point in Boston is a well-known and loved downtown destination that’s been serving since the 18th century, formerly known as The Stone Pub. It’s also now becoming an annual staple for the Boston Partners in Education fundraiser of the season. “This is the second year we’re doing trivia and last year was a blast,” says Erin McGrath, Executive Director at Boston Partners in Education. “We will have door prizes – we have cash prizes for first, second and third place and appetizers generously donated by The Point.”
Funds raised from the trivia night go to support their locally-grown initiative that has been serving students since 1966 by pairing them with academic mentors. “They’re working with students on their academics but they’re also providing them with a lot of social/emotional support,” explains McGrath. “Right now there’s this epidemic of loneliness in America, so I think this work is more important than ever. The fact that we’re able to connect the community directly into the classroom is tremendous.”
Already seeing a large measurable impact from students’ grades and confidence levels rising to speak up more in class, the non-profit has a goal for growth to provide 400 mentors to Boston local students in the 2024-25 academic year.
